Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted a Federal Commissioner National Population Commission, Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo.
The senior official of NPC, who is representing Bayelsa State, was said to have been seized on Sunday evening near Ogbakiri junction on East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
She was said to be coming from Brass Council Area of Bayelsa and was going to Port Harcourt, Rivers State when her car was attacked by the armed men.
She was said to have been whisked away with her driver and her housemaid, who with her into bush.
Meanwhile, her abductors have reportedly reached out to the family for N500 million ransom before she could be released, a family source revealed.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the Commissioner of Police had ordered the command’s tactical teams to swing into action and rescue the woman and the other two victims.
