The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday said its men have rescued a day-old female baby dumped near a septic tank in Gowon Estate in Ipaja.
According to a statement by the state command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, a member of the public alerted officers at the Gowon Estate Police Division after finding the baby inside a plastic bow around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The police spokesman, who disclosed that the baby was rapped with a cloth, said: “The officers promptly arrived at the scene and took the baby for immediate medical attention at a health centre. The baby is doing well.
“The officers have left the hospital for the Juvenile Welfare Centre, Alakara, Mushin, for custody.”
