Armed men have attacked Tse Alashi Kaambe in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, slaughtering five persons working on their farms and brick-moulding site.
Investigation revealed that the gunmen stormed the community around 1.00pm on Friday and killed the victims, who were busy in their work places.
The chairman of Guma Council Area, Hon. Caleb Aba, who cares confirmed incident, said: “The incident happened around 1.00pm today (Friday) afternoon. Armed Fulani herders invaded a community called Tse Alashi and butchered three people who were working on their farm. They also moved to a place where people were laying burnt bricks and killed two people without any provocation whatsoever. They slaughtered them like fowls.”
He, however, said that the incident had been reported to the police.
Also, the Security Adviser to the state governor, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (rtd.) also confirmed the killings, saying: “It was an unprovoked attack; the people were working in their farms when the herders surrounded them and killed them.”
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the state police command, Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive details of the incident.
She said: “We have received information on the attack but I will need to wait till the police team drafted to the place arrive.”
