An unidentified man has been arrested by police in Kogi State for allegedly killing and burying his friend, Kehinde Ajayi, in his house.
The deceased was said to have disappeared from his house in Felele area of Lokoja since July 24, 2022.
Investigation revealed that the deceased had disappeared after the suspect, an air conditioned technician, reportedly lured him and other friends to a place to celebrate his purchase of a Toyota Sienna bus for him.
The suspect was also said to have gone away with the deceased’s new car after killing and burying him inside his house.
A source, who preferred not to be named, disclosed that the suspect on Monday took policemen to his house at Felele area of Lokoja, where he had buried the victim’s corpse.
He said irate youths attempted to set the suspect’s house abaze after the corpse was exhumed but were prevented by the police.
The state police command’s spokesman, William Ayah, who confirmed the incident, said the victim’s corpse had been recovered and the suspect detained by the police.
Also assuring that other suspects involved in the crime would be arrested, he explained: “Following the report of the victim’s disappearance by his family to the police, one of his friends was arrested last week and he gave an information which led to the arrest of the prime suspect.”
