Unknown gunmen on Tuesday night attacked the residence of the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Steve Orogwu, killing four persons.
Those killed were the chairman’s elder brother with his two sons and a security guard on duty.
The council chairman was lucky not to be at home when the gunmen attacked his house.
The armed men also reportedly set ablaze some a building in the chairman’s compound located at Ekpaomaka.
The council boss, who confirmed the incident to the newsmen, said: “They attacked my family compound at Ikwo at night and killed my elder brother and two of his sons and a security guard. They also set ablaze a building in the compound.”
Reasons for the attack could not be immediately verified as the state police command’s spokesperson, Loveth Odah, said she was away on an official assignment when called for comments.
