Gunmen on Thursday night killed two policemen, a university lecturer and two others in Benue State.
The victims were reportedly killed in two separate attacks on Guma and Ukum Local Government Areas of the state.
The two policemen were said to have been killed in Yelewata of Guma Local Government Area, a border town between Benue and Nasarawa States.
Also, the gunmen reportedly killed a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at the Federal University, Wukari in Taraba State, Fred Akaayar, and two other persons at Jootar in Ukum Council Area, a border community between Benue and Taraba States.
Meanwhile, confirming the incident to journalists, the Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, Catherine Anene, said: “I received the information about two policemen were killed at Guma in an operation but I am yet to receive details please.”
