A family of three have been crushed to death by a hit and run truck driver in Ogun State.
The victims, a father, mother and their baby on Wednesday night were reportedly travelling on a motorcycle along Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Highway when the incident happened.
The spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who spoke with newsmen, said the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speeding, thereby crushing the family.
Akinbiyi, who said the truck driver did not stop after killing the victims, disclosed that some commercial motorcyclists that witnessed the incident pursued the vehicle and apprehended the driver in front of a hotel, along Oru-Ago Iwoye Road.
He said the truck driver was was beaten by the angry mob before he was later handed over to the police at Igbeba Police Motor Traffic Division.
He also said trunk of the truck was also set on fire by the okada riders and some youths, adding that the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode.
