Armed bandits have kidnapped a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Haruna Abdulmalik, in Nasarawa State.
Haruna, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, was the DPO in charge of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The DPO was said to have been kidnapped on Thursday while on patrol of Nasarawa Eggon-Akwanga Road.
An informed source said the bandits have reached out to the DPO’s family to demand N5m ransom.
The Vanguard reports that the Deputy Chairman of the Nasarawa Eggon Council Area, Benjamin Kuze, has confirmed the incident but said efforts to speak with spokesperson for the state Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, proved abortive.
