An official of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps, Popoola Olasupo, on Sunday morning way reportedly ambushed and abducted by unknown persons on the way to his duty post.
The victim whose location could not be traced, was said to be with another official of the TRACE when he was seized around 6:30 am near Eledumare-Fidiwo on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The kidnappers were said to have suddenly emerged from the bush along the highway and picked him up while his colleague miraculously escaped.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the TRACE Corps are said to have reported to the police to help find the victim.
Also, local hunters are said to have joined the police to comb the forest, where the victim had been picked up, in order to rescue him.
While no official statement has been issued on the matter by the TRACE spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer for Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, has confirmed the incident to newsmen.
He said the command’s anti-kidnapping squad are already after the kidnappers.
According to him: “We are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested. Ogun State is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this State.”
