A Family Court, sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State has ordered that a 49-year old teacher, Oyebode Alayoteti, be remanded in police custody for allegedly raping a student.
Appearing in court on Monday, the trial Chief Magistrate, Patricia Adetuyibi, ordered that the accused person be kept at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku for two weeks for further investigation.
The magistrate, who did not take the plea of the accused person for want in jurisdiction, therefore, adjourned the case till August 4, for mention.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Folake Ewe, a police inspector, told the court that the accused person, a teacher at the Federal Government Girls College in Oyo, defiled a 14-year old female student.
Ewe further told the court the accused person allegedly committed the offence between November 2021 and May 2022.
Ewe said: “The suspect started molesting the girl since she was in Junior Secondary School (class three) when she was 12 years old.”
The defence counsel, Tunde Oluponna, appeared for the accused person.
