Residents of Kpaduma ll area of Asokoro in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been thrown into mourning as a mother, Zainab Ibrahim, was accidentally matcheted to death last Saturday while separating her two sons fighting each other.
It was learnt that one of her sons, Inuwa, mistakenly cut her mother with a cutlass on her left hand when he wanted to attack his brother, Usman.
Reasons for the fight was not known.
The woman was said to have rushed to a private hospital in the area, where she died.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said that Usman has been arrested and in police custody but Inuwa was at large.
She said: “The Command received a distress call and rushed to the scene. The mother, who was matcheted by one of the sons during the fight was taken to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Usman is in custody but Inuwa is at large.”
