A 30-year old man, Ebube Oba, has been arrested by the police operatives in Anambra State for allegedly punching and killing a mother of two, Mrs. Uzomaka Ekpe.
The suspect, who was accused of hitting the woman, his neighbour residing at Nkpor Agu area of Ogidi, in the chest during a fight, was reportedly apprehended on Sunday the by police.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said: “A 30-year old man, Ebube Oba, who resides at Ugochukwu lane Nkpor Agu, Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, was locked in a quarrel with Mrs. Uzomaka Ekpe at about 4:33pm on Saturday.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that Ebube and the Uzomaka during the quarrel exchanged blows.
“The suspect hit the decased on the chest and face with fist blows before she collapsed. She was rushed to the hospital and was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
“The body of late Mrs Ekpe had been deposited at the morgue, while the suspect is in police custody for further investigation, after which the case will be charged to court.
“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, has advised residents of the state to learn how to control their anger in the face of quarrels.”
