Men of the Kano State Police Command have arrested and paraded a 25-year old woman, Rahma Sulaiman, for allegedly abducting her 6-year old daughter in Madobi Local Government, Kano State.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, while parading sixteen suspects, including armed robbers, kidnappers and drug dealers within Kano metropolis and some surrounding council areas,. said the suspect reportedly kidnapped the innocent child to extort the victim’s father, with whom she had been separated.
At a press briefing earlier, the police boss said: “The incident happened on 08/05/2023, when one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal Local Government reported that his former wife, Rahma Sulaiman, called and informed him that their six-year old daughter had been kidnapped.
“She told the girl’s father and said unknown persons called her through her mobile phone demanding the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) ransom .
“After receiving the report, the police swung into action to rescue the victim and arrest the suspects. And based on a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA and the woman was arrested.
“The suspect has confessed to having planned, took her daughter to a hideout, and demanded the ransom.”
He said investigation into the case has commenced, assuring that the suspect would be charged to court soon.
