A 30-year old photographer, Usman Sanigoga, who got wedded four months ago, committed suicide in Jigawa State.
The victim resident at Akula Quarters in Babura Local Government Area, was said to have hunged himself.
Reasons for the deceased killing himself could not be immediately verified but the man was said to be suffering mental illness.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State, Mr. Adamu Shehu, stated this in Dutse, disclosed that Sanigoga’s wife found him hanging from the ceiling in their bedroom on Wednesday as she returned from a social visit.
According to the wife, the victim dropped her off at a relative’s house on Wednesday at about 2:00p.m. with a promise to return in the evening to take her home.
She said: “After waiting for long and he did not show up, I called his cell phone several times, but there was no response and I decided to take a commercial motorcycle back home.
“On getting home, I met our house locked and I solicited the assistance of a commercial motorcyclist to scale over the fence to unlock the main entrance.
“On opening the door, I saw my husband’s motorcycle parked in an unusual manner. So, I hurried inside and I met his body hanging from the ceiling of our bedroom.
“I lost consciousness and passed out at the horrific sight and it was the motorcyclist who shouted for help before neighbours rushed to the scene.”
The NSCDC spokesman said the man was certified dead at the hospital where he was rushed for a medical attention, adding that his corpse had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
He said an investigation by the NSCDC showed that the deceased used a bedside drawer on top of a wide bed to reach the ceiling where he tied a rope to a hook.
Shehu stated that Sanigoga’s close associates told the NSCDC that he had a relapsing mental disorder.
