An Ikeja Special Offences Court has sentenced the Nigerian comedian, Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha to sixteen years for sexually assaulting a 14-year old girl.
Baba Ijesha, who was charged for indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, had faced the rape trial in court for more than 12 months.
He was convicted on Thursday by the presiding judge, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, after he had been found guilty of four of six offences.
The judge convicted him for five years each on two charges and three years each other two charges, ruling that the total 16-year sentence will run concurrently for a five-year jail term.
However, the judge discharged and acquitted Baba Ijesha on counts one and six – sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.
Meanwhile, the forster single parent of the minor known as Princess has reacted to the judgement.
Princess, a comedienne, posted on her Instagram handle: “God is not man.”
