A Bolt driver, Francis Atabi, who is also a final year student of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has been reportedly stabbed to death by men suspected to be car snatchers.
The 25-year old deceased student, who is in the Department of Education and Political Science of the university, gave the men a ride on Friday night before he was later killed at the Mary Slessor Roundabout in the town.
It was gathered that the men around 8:00pm on Friday tried to snatch a Toyota Corolla car the deceased was using for hire service on a parrt time from him but when he resisted, they killed.
An informed source said: “The car snatchers tried to seize the car from the driver on the way to their destination but the resistance he put up provoked them. They stabbed him multiple times and also tied a rope round his neck.
“While struggling with them, the driver lost control of the car and crushed a security man near by to death.”
Meanwhile, the Cross River State Police Command’s spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, has confirmed the incident, saying said investigation had already commenced into the matter.
