A 34-year old man, Godwin Iroro, has blamed the devil for defiling his friend’s 10-year old daughter.
The suspect, who was arrested on November 25, 2021 by the police in Lagos said the devil led him to defile the minor.
The Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, in a statement, said the suspect was arrested when the victim’s father, Chukwudi Chime, reported the matter to the police.
He disclosed that the girl’s father said he noticed unusual and awkward movements of his daughter.
Confirming that the suspect had confessed to the crime, Ajisebutu said: “The little girl (victim) when questioned, disclosed that her father’s friend, a father of four who also lives in the same compound at 5, Iyalode Street, Ajegunle, Lagos, had carnal knowledge of her when her father was out of the house.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that both men are separated from their wives. While the victim lives with her father at the above address.
“The suspect confessed to the crime but blamed it on the devil. He also confessed to have sexually abused the little girl only twice before the evil was uncovered.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Gender Unit of the Police Command for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
“The CP warns that such licentious men who would not keep their restless manhoods in check to desist from such contemptible acts or face the grave consequence.”
