A hit-and-run driver has reportedly killed three persons on a commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada on Abeokuta-Sagamu Road.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, in a statement, said the incident happened around Okemosan in Abeokuta.
Okpe said: ” the corps’ night rescue team carried out a rescue operation on the Abeokuta-Sagamu route around Okemosan, Abeokuta after receiving information about the crash at about 5.00am on Saturday.
“The rescue team quickly responded, and getting to the scene of the crash, three victims, the motorcycle rider and the two pillion (passengers) were lying down lifeless, hit by an unknown vehicle.
“The team quickly conveyed the victims to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta but unfortunately they died. Their families were contacted immediately and the bodies have been handed over to them.”
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Ahmed Umar, who expressed sorrow over the incident, said if the driver had rescued the victims and taken them to hospital for medical attention, their lives would have been saved.
He advised motorists to always consider other road users and drive within the speed that can be controlled.
