The Kwara State Police Command has arrested and paraded a man, Ibrahim Hassan, for allegedly killing his father, Sabi Ibrahim.
The suspect was said to have injected his 90-year old father with paracetamol injection mixed with other substances.
And after the late father became weak and dizzy, the suspect was also said to have immediately carried the victim on a borrowed motorcycle to an uncompleted building where he allegedly strangulated him to death.
The Kwara State Police Command’s spokesperson, Okasanmi Ajayi, said the matter was reported on 5/8/2022, by one Aishat Ibrahim ‘F’ as a case of a missing person.
Parading the suspect on Thursday at the state police command headquarters in Ilorin, he said circumstances of his disappearance raised suspicion and the police was made to investigate.
He said: “Investigation into the matter led to the arrest of one Ibrahim Hassan ‘M’, a biological son of the missing old man.
“During the investigation, the suspect confessed to have administered paracetamol injection mixed with other substances on his father, who became weak and dizzy immediately after the injection, this he did after coming from the bank where he took his father to renew and collect his ATM card.
“The suspect thereafter, took the father on a motorcycle he borrowed to convey his father to an isolated uncompleted building and strangulated his father to death, dug a shallow grave where he buried his father after dispossessing him of the Wema Bank ATM card they went to the bank to collect.
“The suspect escaped to Kaduna State and started withdrawing from his late father’s account, he withdrew a total sum of N59,000.
“He said the purpose of killing his father was to dispossess him of the ATM card since he already knew the pin. The suspect also sold the borrowed motorcycle and absconded to Kaduna State where he was eventually arrested.
“The ATM card and the stolen motorcycle have been recovered, while the suspect would soon be charged to court.”
