Men of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a student of Government Secondary School, Games Village in Bauchi metropolis for allegedly stabbing his two mates.
The 18-year old suspect, Usman Suleiman Jahun aka Jan Gashi, who is a senior secondary (SS3) student, reportedly joined two other students now at large to attack and stab their colleagues with knife over a football argument.
Confirming the incident, the state police command’s spokesman, Ahmed Wakili, in a statement, said the injured students are receiving treatment at a health facility in Bauchi.
According to him, the students had engaged in an argument over which club would lead in the European football league before the incident happened.
He said: “Today (Thursday) at about 16.45hrs, the police patrol team of the command patrolling along Games Village cited a group of students of Government Secondary School, Games Village fighting among themselves.
“On enquiry, it was discovered that one Usman Suleiman Jahun aka Jan Gashi, 18 years old, SS3 student, conspired with two others who are now at large, attacked and stabbed their colleagues with dangerous weapons.
“The students were so violent during the argument that the situation degenerated and one of them brought out a knife and stabbed the two students, Ibrahim Abdullahi on the chest and Isamil Abubakar on his thigh.
“The police men on patrol quickly rushed the victims to a clinic at Ganjuwa while the state command is after after the fleeing suspects in order to arrest them.”
