No fewer than eight suspects accused of electricity theft were paraded on Thursday by the Osun State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Parading the suspects at the state command’s headquarters in Osogbo, the Osun NSCDC Commandant, Sunday Agboola, disclosed that his men apprehended the suspects in a sting operation at various locations in Osogbo, the state capital.
According to the NSCDC boss, the suspects, which include six men and two women were arrested at Ogo-Oluwa and Alekuwodo areas of Osogbo.
He said: “We have the information that the suspects were passing electricity supply to their residents to evade the necessary payment.
“With the suspects’ arrest and parade, the Command is ready to curb activities of vandals, economic saboteurs and energy thieves. And this is also a clear signal to the public of the command’s zero tolerance for crime.
“We charge members of the public to desist from acts capable of throwing the state into darkness and economic hardship.”
