Husband and wife reportedly abducted last Saturday by gunmen in Osun State on their way home from a church vigil have escaped from their abductors, according to the Osun State Amotekun Corps
The Commander of the Corps in the state,, Bashir Adewinmbi, said the couple abducted on early Saturday morning along Osogbo-Iragbiji Road are safe.
He disclosed that the wife was spotted by his men as she was running out of a forest around Kelebe area on Iragbiji-Osogbo Road, at about 9.00 p.m. on Tuesday.
He said: “The woman,.who identified herself as Margret Jonah, was first taken to our Command headquarters and there she explained how she was kidnapped with her husband on Saturday morning.
“The woman told us that that they lived in Iragbiji and were returning home from Osogbo, where they went for a church vigi before they ran into the ambush of the kidnappers.
“She said their kidnappers fled when the police were closing in on them, giving her and her husband opportunity to escape, but in different directions.
“We have called the family of the woman to let them know that she had been rescued. The husband too is fine. They are both now with the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit.”
