Ogun State operatives have reportedly arrested four bank officials Badmus Olalekan, Ajibade Oludare, Eniola Aduragbemi and Femi Oloko, over the death of a debtor’s wife.
One of the officials of the financial institution, Zefa Microfinance Bank in Ifo, Ogun State was said to have allegedly pushed the woman, Vivian Omo, who reportedly fell down and died, while they were trying to recover a loan from her husband
It was learnt that the incident happened when the bank officials on May 10 visited a bank debtor, who happens to be the deceased husband at their residence at Abule Ijoko Lemode area of Ifo Local Government.
The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in a statement, said: “The bank staffers had gone there to request the money borrowed by the man but they were told by the deceased that her husband was not at home.
“The bank staffers were not satisfied with the claim that the man was not at home, so they tried to go away with some electronics, but the late wife resisted.
“While the deceased was struggling with the bank’s staffers, one of them pushed her, and she fell down and was unconscious. She was then rushed to hospital for medical attention, but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and her corpse had been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
“The incident was reported at the Agbado divisional headquarters by the daughter of the deceased. The DPO, CSP Awoniyi Adekunle, quickly led his detectives to the scene where the bankers: Badmus Olalekan, Ajibade Oludare, Eniola Aduragbemi and Femi Oloko, were arrested.”
He said the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal and Investigation Department (CIID).
