A suspected ritualist, Gbesemehan Dewanu Solomon, has been arrested by the residents of Ipokia in Ipokia Council Area of Ogun State.
Solomon, who was reportedly caught on Monday while exhuming human skulls from a grave in the town, has been handed over to the police, according to the Onipokia of Ipokia, Oba Yisa Olaniyan.
The monarch, who spoke with newsmen, said the suspects, no doubt was a member of a syndicate responsible for exhuming human skulls from graves in the town.
The Oniopkia, said the ritualists have invaded the town to exhume skulls, disclosed that no fewer than fifty human skulls have lately been dug out of the graves.
The traditional ruler further disclosed that some human skulls were recovered from the suspect’s house when it was searched by the police.
He said: “We didn’t depend on the police and other security agencies. The community leaders rose up in an effort to get the culprits arrested and our efforts paid off on Monday night, when we arrested Solomon at Idologun.
“He had exhumed a skull when he was nabbed by the residents. He was with the skull in his bag and the tools he used in digging out the human heads.”
Oba Olaniyan, therefore, appealed to the Ogun State Police Command to ensure Solomon’s accomplices are fished out and those buying the skulls from them, adding that “we must get to the root of this matter and everybody involved must face the law, no matter their status in the society.”
