Gunmen have killed an hotelier, Olugbenga Owolabi, and his causal staff, a female student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Rachael Opadele, abducted last Friday in Ogbomoso have been killed.
The gunmen on Tuesday evening reportedly shot dead the hotelier and the student working for him because of ongoing nationwide strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), after collecting N5 million ransom from the hotelier’s family.
One other unidentified person, who reportedly carried the ransom to bush escaped with gunshot wound while the motorcyclists (Okada man) that took him there was shot dead by the gunmen
A family source, who preferred not to be named, said: “A motorcycle operator, who carried the man with the ransom to the designated spot in the bush, was also killed, while the ransom carrier sustained injuries.
The hotelier and the student as well as the motorcycle operator were shot dead in anger. But the man, who carried the ransom to the bush is currently receiving medical attention in the hospital.
“The ransom was taken to the bush on Ogbomoso-Ilorin Expressway around Igbon area. The kidnappers became angry when they noticed the presence of soldiers at the LAUTECH area.
“The soldiers were in Ogbomoso on Tuesday in order to beef up security because of increasing rate of kidnapping in the area.”
