An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has ordered an 18-year old boy, Mohammed Lawal, to be remanded at Ikoyi Custodial Centre, Lagos, for alleged armed robbery.
The defendant allegedly robbed a man, Mr. Chinedu Chiwouzor, of his car, Lexus ES33, 2006 marked EKY 260 GT, at gun point.
The car is valued at N4 million.
The defendant also allegedly stole an IPhone 6X valued at N35,000 and a Samsung S8 phone valued at N120,000, all totaling N4,155,000.
The plea of the defendant charged for two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery, was not taken.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, a police inspector, told the court that the defendant committed the offences at 9:30 p.m. on Febduary 20, 2022 at Akinyemi Street, Igando, Lagos.
The prosecutor, who said that the offences contravened Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015 (Revised), also told the court that “the defendant used a pistol to rob the complainant, Mr. Chinedu Chiwouzor, on his from work.
“He stole the complainant’s Lexus ES33, 2006 model with a registration number EKY 260 GT valued at N4 million.
“He also stole an IPhone 6X valued at N35,000 and a Samsung S8 phone valued at N120,000 all totaling N4,155,000.
“The defendant committed the offence alongside two other accomplices who escaped during their arrest.”
The judge, Magistrate O.A. Layinka, ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The magistrate adjourned the case till June 28, 2022 for DPP advice.
