A Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Iyaganku in Ibadan, Oyo State has ordered a man, Jide Akinropo, and his wife, Ajoke Akinropo, be remanded in prison over death of a 45-year old man, Ola Olaapde.
The couple, Jide (40) and Ajoke (34), to be put in the custody of Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town, was charged for conspiracy and murder.
The presiding judge, E. A. Idowu, Chief Magistrate, who did not take the plea of the couple, ordered that they should be remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
He adjourned the case till May 30, for mention.
During the court proceeding, the prosecutor, Femi Oluwadare, a police inspector, informed the court that the couple conspired together to commit the offence.
According to him, on April 25, around 7.00am at Zion Oje area, Ibadan, the couple beat Olapade to death.
He further explained that the offence is contrary to provisions of Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 and 324of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
