Seven presidential aspirants of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Southwest have met in Abuja ahead of the party’s Monday primary election.
The meeting which was held at the Abuja residence of the former governor of Ogun State, Segun Osoba, reportedly started on Saturday night and continued till Sunday morning.
An inside source said the agenda of the meeting was how a consensus candidate could be picked from the seven aspirants so as to take the advantage of Saturday endorsement of Southern candidate by President Mohammadu Buhari and the Northern governors.
According to the source, the aspirants at the meeting include the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; former Lagos Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate, Ajayi Boroffice; former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun; Lagos cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare and a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
He also disclosed that leaders of the party in the Southwest geo-political zone in attendance at the meeting include former Osun State governor and former chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, former Ekiti State governor, Niyi Adebayo,
Also at the meeting were governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) and Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), among others.
