A 22-year old bus conductor, Suleiman Mohammed, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an area court in Jos, Plateau State for keeping two knives in his pocket while working.
Charged for unlawful possession of dangerous weapon, the accused person pleaded guilty.
The prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, a police inspector, told the court that on February 23, a police patrol team from the Railway Division Police Station, Jos, arrested the convict during a stop-and-search operation.
According to the police prosecutor, the offence contravened the provisions of Plateau Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Thomas Ajitse, sentenced Mohammed to six months imprisonment but also gave the him an option of fine of N50,000.
