Eight persons on Saturday reportedly died and three others injured in a fatal road accident at Odumodu Junction, Umunya in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
An eye witness account revealed that the accident involved four vehicles – two articulated trucks, Toyota Sienna bus and another Toyota car.
A motorcycle rider simply identified as Mr Kenechukwu, who witnessed the incident, disclosed that one of the trucks coming from Onitsha to Enugu lost its brake before the crash.
He said: “I was waiting for passengers when I suddenly saw a trailer coming from Onitsha with full speed. Immediately it got closer, the driver couldn’t hold the brake, thereby ramming into an oncoming trailer and a bus loaded with passengers.”
The corspes have been deposited at the mortuary and the injured receiving treatment at the hospital.
