Workers at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa in Ondo State, on Wednesday took to the street to protest mass dismissal of members of staff.
No fewer than 35 of their colleagues were “unjustly sacked” by the management of the institution, according to the protesters
The protest which started as early as 8.00 am paralysed academic and non-academic activities at the institution as the protesters shut the main gate of the institution.
The protesters insisted that the management must reverse its decision and recall their sacked colleagues back to duty before normalcy could return to the school.
A protester, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the sacked workers were duly employed, received appointment letters and completed all necessary documentation.
He also said that most of the workers had worked for over six months before their sack.
