An armed gang has kidnapped a traditional ruler of Idofin, Oba Shedrack Durojaye Obibeni, and his wife on Makutu-Idofin Road in Yagba East Council Area of Kogi State.
The victims on Monday evening were traveling on the road when they ran into the armed men.
The Director of Security of Okun Development Association (ODA), Mr. Tunde Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident on the association’s platform, said the monarch’s car was forced to a halt at gun point around 5.30pm and the victims led into a nearby forest.
Meanwhile, the spokeperson of the Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, who also confirmed the incident, said the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Adesina Yusuf, security men have been deployed to the scene of the incident to rescue the victims and apprehend the culprits.
He said: “We are already on the trail of the abductors. No cause for alarm. Men of the State command in synergy with other sister security agencies, hunters and vigilantes are on the track of the hoodlums.”
