An armed gang has reportedly kidnapped a priest of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Otukpo Diocese, Rev. Fr. Anthony Adikwu.
It was gathered that the gang attacked the church Ajegbe Awume in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, where the victim serves as the parish priest around 10.00pm.
After seizing the priest, he was said to have been whisked away by the gunmen to an unknown destination.
Narrating how the armeden stormed the church premises, a resident of the area identified as Oche, said: “Yesterday (Thursday) night at 10 p.m., some gunmen stormed Ajegbe Awume, Ohimini Benue State, the kidnappers went straight to the church premises and kidnapped the Rev. Father in Charge of St. Margaret Parish.”
Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident, saying: “The information got to us this morning (Friday), and we are working on it.”
