Eight persons have died and six others injured in a ghastly motor accident on Darazo-Bauchi Highway.
The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Yusuf Abdullahi, told newsmen that the accident occurred around 1:33 pm on Wednesday at Shadarki village.
According to him, two vehicles, a white Toyota Hilux car marked BPP 041 and a white commercial Volkswagen Golf 3 car, with registration number DX 65 EKY, were involved in the accident.
He said: “Fourteen persons, five male adults, six female adults, two male children and one female child, were involved in the crash.
“Two male adults, three female adults, two male children and one female child died in the accident. Three male adults and three female adults sustained injuries like bruises, head injury and fracture.
“The cause of the accident was wrong overtaking, according to the report we got. The injured victims are already receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Darazo, the headquarters of Darazo Local Government Area of the state And the remains of the deceased were deposited at the hospital mortuary.”
The FRSC boss disclosed that some items belonging to the victims, including four mobile phones and other personal properties were recovered at the scene of the crash.
