Four persons, including three clerics of the Anglican Church have died in a fatal motor accident on Otun–Iro Ekiti Road in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Five other clerics also sustained serious injuries in the crash.
It was learnt that the victims, serving at the church’s Ekiti-Oke Diocese on Monday were reportedly travelling from Ipere-Ekiti to Iro-Ekiti, when their bus somersaulted thrice after a tyre burst.
It was also learnt that one of the deceased clerics, Revd Felix Okeowo, who was transferred from Saint Peters’ Anglican Church, Ipere Ekiti, was on his way to assume duty in his new station in Iro-Ekiti, when the incident occurred.
Okeowo’s relation simply called Cecilia and other two clerics that died in the crash were Reverend Arije of Saint James’ Anglican Church, Eda Oniyo Ekiti and Reverend Omotoso of Saint Mary’s Anglican Church, Ewu Ekiti.
It was gathered that the deceased clerics were travelling from Ipere-Ekiti to Iro-Ekiti, when their bus somersaulted and they died instantly.
Meanwhile, the five surviving clerics with injuries have been taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, and the corpses of the three clergymen deposited in the hospital mortuary.
