A joint security team of men of the Adamawa State Police Command and local hunters have reportedly shot dead a suspected kidnapper at the point of picking a ransom.
Two victims, Suleiman Abdullahi (23) and Ruwa Buba (11) were also reportedly rescued unhurt at a village in Toungo Local Government Area of the state as the gang of kidnappers engaged the security team in gun battle.
According to the police spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, in Yola on Monday, the incident happened on Sunday.
In a statement, the police spokesman said: “One kidnapper was neutralised when he and his gang arrived at a spot to receive N2 million ransom demanded from relatives of the kidnapped victims.
“The suspected kidnappers sighted our men around the area and engaged them in a gun duel so as to escape arrest. One of them was neutralised while others escaped with bullet wounds.
“The two victims, Suleiman Abdullahi, 23, and Ruwa Buba, 11, residents of Mayo Sumsum Village in Toungo LGA, were rescued unhurt.”
