Eight dead bodies, including that of a mother and son have been recovered under the rubbles of the collapsed 3-storey building in Ebute Meta, Lagos.
The Zonal Coordinator Southwest, of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, who made the disclosure on Monday morning in Lagos, said those recovered dead are five males and three females,
He also disclosed that 23 victims have been rescued so far.
The breakdown of the rescued victims’ figure are seven children and 16 adults, according to the NEMA boss.
He also disclosed that nine of the survivors have been treated and discharged from the hospital, adding that rescue operations were still ongoing at the site.
He said: “The survivors returned to the scene but they have been taken away for proper custody while psycho-social and post-trauma counselling are being arranged for them by the Nigerian Red Cross.”
Earlier, the DOES2LEAK Online had reported the collapsed of the 3-storey building at No 34 Ibadan Street in Ebute Meta of Lagos Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Many persons were trapped in the building that collapsed around 9:30pm on Sunday, according to the report.
