Five persons have died in a ghastly motor accident on Tombia-Amassoma Road, Bayelsa State.
The accident reportedly occurred on Friday when a black Toyota SUV marked RGM 38 HM and a Mazda 323F with registration number, NEM 456 PG had an head-on collision.
The Bayelsa State Police Command’s spokesman, Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said: “Four passengers and the driver of the Mazda car died on the spot.
“A female passenger was rescued and hospitalised at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri. The corpses of the victims were deposited in the same hospital for autopsies.
“Investigation is ongoing to arrest the driver of the SUV, who fled immediately after the crash to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
