Two emirs have been deposed by the Zamfara State government for their alleged links to badits.
The emirs are that of Zurmi and Dansadau, Atiku Muhammadu and Hussaini Umar, respectively.
Also sacked is the district head of Birnin Tsaba, Sulaiman Ibrahim, who was said to be allegedly romancing the bandits.
The traditional leaders 10 months ago had been suspended by the state government, following their alleged involvement in the activities of bandits in the state.
The state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, who spoke with journalists after the State Council meeting on Wednesday, said the recommendation of a 6-person White Paper Committee set up by the state government on insecurity facing the state was upheld by the Council.
The white paper committee was to review the report of two separate committees earlier set up to investigate the involvement of the three traditional rulers in the activities of banditry in the state, according to the commissioner.
The commissioner disclosed that findings of the committees revealed abuse of land act in their domain, adding that the State government has ordered the reversal to status quo involving the lands illegally allocated.
He further disclosed that the government has also ordered that all land titles issued by the affected traditional leaders be revoked.
He said: “The State Executive Council has also directed the state Ministry of Justice to issue an executive order to back up the council resolution.”
