The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered immediate arrest of afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, for slapping a police man.
In a viral video, Seun, during an altercation with the police man, assaulted the offcer in uniform on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
The IGP directed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to arrest the musician, according to the Force Headquarters’ spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
In a statement, Adejobi, said: “Speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.”
Meanwhile, Seun has reacted to the IGP’s order of arrest, saying he slapped the officer because he wanted to kill him and some members of his family.
Seun, on his Instagram page, said: “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges.
“Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job (You all should mind your business so the officer will not lose his job).”
