Men of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a welder, Aliu Tijani, for helping a suspected cultist, Wasiu Opeyemi, to cut off his handcuffs.
Tijani allegedly helped the suspected cultist after escaping from police custody, according to the police spokesman in Lagos State, Benjamin Hundeyin.
The police spokesman on his Twitter’s Handle, @BenHundeyin, on Sunday disclosed that Opeyemi, was earlier arrested in 2021, but escaped from police custody but was rearrested by men of the command last week.
He tweeted: “Suspected cultist, Wasiu Opeyemi, escaped from police custody in August 2021 in handcuffs. Last week, he was re-arrested alongside Aliu Tijani, the welder who cut off the handcuffs when he escaped the first time. The two suspects have been remanded and arraigned in court.”
