Police operatives in Osun State have arrested and paraded a 35-year old man, Kazeem Folaji, for allegedly fabricating local guns.
The Osun State Police Command’s Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, who spoke with newsmen on Friday, disclosed that the suspect was arrested after a tip off from a police informant.
Opalola, who further disclosed that the suspect was arrested in Ejigbo, the headquarters of Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State on Sunday, said the police command was determined to rid the state of local gun fabricators and runners.
Informing the journalists that the suspect confessed during interrogation that a fabricated gun in his possession at the time of his arrest was made by his associate who is now in prison, Opalola said: “We have arrested a lot of people in the state with firearms. That is what led to the arrest of this 35-year old man. He was arrested around 12:30am in Ejigbo. We recovered firearms and keys from him.
“He told us that the person that used to fabricate firearms has been taken to prison but he kept some of the firearms.”
Meanwhile, the suspect has told the newsmen that his major business is the fabrication of keys and hoes and that he had never been involved in the fabrication of local guns.
