Less than forty eight hours to inauguration of a new administration to be led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Oloba-Ile of Oba-Ile in Olorunda Council Area of Osun State, Oba Adekunle Oyeyemi, has called for priotizing security.
The traditional ruler said that for every nook and cranny of the country to be secured, it is imperative for the incoming administration to prioritise assigning constitutional roles to traditional rulers.
The monarch, who spoke at the 4th edition of Congress of Obas at his palace in Oba-Ile on Saturday, maintained that assigning constitutional roles to royal fathers will go a long way in curbing insecurity at the grassroots.
He said: “It is imperative that the incoming administration to be led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a matter of priority, must assign constitutional roles to traditional rulers to further enhance economic prosperity for the country.
“A system was in place before, where traditional rulers played constitutional roles, they liase with government to ensure peace and stability at the grassroots. It is not impossible to return constitutional roles to monarchs in the country, it will enhance security of lives and property and ensure prosperity in the country.”
Oba Oyeyemi also rallied support for the incoming government, praying for its success.
He called on traditional rulers across the country to support the incoming administration to succeed, saying “If the government succeeds, it will be for the greater good of the country, its people and the traditional institution.”
In his words: “We as traditional rulers must rally support for the incoming administration to succeed. If it does, the country will be better off for it and there would be economic growth and development in all facets of the economy.”
He also admonished Oba-Ile descendants across the country to strive for the unity of the tribe and give back to their homestead with a view to ensure its progress and development.
