A Lagos-based, Eze Ndigbo, Frederick Nwajagu, has been arraigned in court for alleged terrorism threats.
He was dragged before court by the Lagos State Government after his threat to invite the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to secure properties of Igbo people in the state during the last general elections.
Nwajagu, who parades himself Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate in Lagos, after he had been arrested in Ejigbo area by the Department of State Services (DSS) on April 1, was dragged before the state High Court, sitting in Lagos.
He was arraigned on a nine-count charge before Justice Y. A. Adesanya.
He was arraigned for the offences of “attempting to do Acts of Terrorism under Section 403(2) of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015; Participation in Terrorism Meeting to Support a Proscribed Entity, Attempt to finance an Act of Terrorism, Preparation to Commit an Act of Terrorism under Sections 12(c), 18, 21, 29 & 12(a) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, amongst others.”
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The presiding judge Justice Adesanya, therefore, adjourned the case till July 4 and 5, 2023, for trial.
