A teenage student of Offa Grammar School in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, Adegoke Adeyemi, has committed suicide after failing a promotion examination to SS2 class.
The 17-year old was said to have failed the exam and allegedly committed suicide because he did not want to repeat SS1 class.
The Public Relations Officer for the Kwara State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, in a statement, confirmed the incident.
According to him, the student’s corpse was removed from a tree behind Ariya Garden Hotel, Offa, by a team of policemen from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Offa, on Tuesday.
Ajayi said that the student was asked to repeat the class because he failed the exam.
He said: The corpse was taken to the Offa General Hospital for autopsy, while an investigation has been launched into the matter.”
