A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has ordered that a General Overseer of Prayer Tabernacle Ministry in Kamurum Bajju, Prophet Enoch Sule, be remanded in prison for allegedly raping and impregnating two sisters.
The presiding magistrate, Samson Kwasu, gave the order on Monday after the accused person were dragged before the court and charged for rape by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The magistrate didn’t take the plea of the accused persons for lack of jurisdiction to hear the matter but instructed the prosecutor to forward the case files to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The magistrate adjourned the cases till September 8 for further mention.
Earlier, the NSCDC prosecutor, Marcus Audu, who said the offence was contrary to Section 258 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, told the court that the matter was reported to the corps by the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Kafanchan, on August 8.
According to him, the accused person deceived the elder sister (19) to accompany him to the mountain for prayer and fasting.
On getting to the mountain, he said the accused person asked the girl to remove her cloth and pray naked as directed by the Holy Spirit.
He further told the court that the accused person forcefully had sexual intercourse with the girl, whichaccording to him, resulted in pregnancy.
He also told the court that a month later, in April, the accused person repeated the same trick on the girl’s 17-year old younger sister and also got her pregnant.
The two sisters’ cases against the prophet were filed and read out separately.
