An Upper Shari’a Court judge, Justice Safiyanu Muhammad Dabi, has been sacked by the Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission.
According to a statement by the Director of Publicity and Protocol Matters, State Judiciary, Abbas Rufa’i Wangara, the judge collected the sum of N50,000 as a bribe when the litigant appeared before him when he was at Upper Shari’a Court, Birnin Kudu.
The statement revealed that the Judicial Service Commission after an extensive deliberation during its 170th meeting collectively resolved to compulsorily retire the judge.
Warning staff in the judicial arm to shun all forms of corruption and bribery in the state, the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to dealing with staff found wanting in the discharge of their official assignment.
