Gunmen have killed seven persons and kidnapped Abdul-Hayatu Ilu, the head of the Karfi community in Takai Local Government Area of Kano State.
Also, several other residents of the community were injured during the attack on Saturday night.
A resident of the community, Sale Hussaini, said the residence of the village head, Abdul-Hayatu Ilu, was the first place the armed men had operated.
Narrating the ordeal of the residents of the community, he said: “One of the seven persons the gunmen killed killed was the neighbour of the abducted traditional ruler who was shot after raising an alarm.
“Five other persons were killed at Tudun Makama, a neighbouring community, where residents wanted to offer help to the bandits, whose motorcycles ran into a ditch, thinking they were community residents needing assistance.
“Those killed are Tasi’u Birniyo; Ali Yahaya, Hashimu Amo, Sadiqu Hussaini, Ahmadu Danlanbu, Bala Audu, and Shu’aibu Agwar-maji.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident to newsmen, saying, “the security men have been dispatched to the area and are trailing the criminals.
