Gunmen on Sunday morning kidnapped a Catholic Priest, Rev. Father Osia, in Ikabigbo, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, on Sunday morning.
The armed men stormed the residence of the priest as he was preparing for Sunday Mass.
An unidentified boy among a team attempting to foil the gunmen’s operation was shot but was rushed to a hospital at Auchi for medical treatment.
Also, the armed men had kidnapped and whisked away the victim before the local vigilantes and hunters arrived to rescue him.
Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler of the community, Bramah Alegeh, disclosed that a joint security team in collaboration with local vigilantes are already after the gunmen to apprehend them and rescue the victim.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command’s spokesman, Chidi Nwanbor, detail of the incident was still sketchy and promised to get back soon to update the journalists.
