Gunmen have reportedly attacked the house of newlyweds and kidnapped the wife in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The gunmen attacked the victims on Wednesday at their Oniyangi residence on Emir Road, Ilorin, in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The man simply identified as Musa reportedly escaped through the backyard of their house but his wife, Rukkayat, was seized before she could escape.
Our correspondent learnt that the kidnappers later got in contact with the family and demanded a ransom of N50m for the woman.
The victims’ relation, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the couple got married three months ago.
He said: “The kidnappers have got in contact with the family and demanded N50m, which they said should be paid before the weekend.
“The family has no such money and that is why we are appealing to philanthropists and members of the public to assist us so that the kidnappers will not kill our daughter.”
Meanwhile, while the relation explained that the family had reported the incident at the Oja Oba Police Station, Ilorin on Thursday, the police spokesperson in Kwara State, Okasanmi Ajayi, said he was not aware of the abduction.
